Biologist, Executive Director of the Collaborative Laboratory InnovPlantProtect, Visiting Full Professor at ITQB NOVA, First President and Member of the National Council of the Biologists Association, ex-President (2004-2020) and partner of the Biotechnology Information Centre, ex-member of the National Ethics Council for Life Sciences (2003-2010), Scientific Auditor of the National Examinations of Secondary Education in Biology and Geology (2009/2010 to 2018/2019) and 2021/2022. Areas of scientific activity: Plant, Cellular and Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Supervised 20 post-doctoral, 27 doctoral and 20 master's degrees. Co-authored 107 scientific papers in indexed journals. Married, four children and four grandchildren.
