
Artificial Intelligence (AI): social concerns, ethical proposals and political guidance - White Paper (Executive Summary)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is present in the most wide-ranging areasof knowledge and human activity, in particular in the fields of medicine,health and in the life sciences, where it has been introduced at an acceleratedpace and in an ever-wider scope of activities, medical specialties, andclinical procedures.
The National Council of Ethics for Life Sciences (CNECV) aims to examine and deliberate on the ethical problems raisedby scientific progress and technological advances. Furthermore, it seeks to contributeto the qualification of public policies and to raise awareness of society ingeneral on these matters. Aware of the importance of an independent, robust, and innovative ethicalanalysis of the implications of AI on the healthsector, the CNECV has set up a Working Group dedicated to this topic.The initiatives carried out by this expert group included debates, hearings, andreports, thus culminating in the issue of the White Paper ArtificialIntelligence (AI): Social Concerns, Ethical Proposals, and Political Guidance.
