Advance Directives highlighted in meeting between CNECV and SPMS

The President of the National Council of Ethics for the Life Sciences (CNECV), Maria do Céu Patrão Neves, was received on 16 April by the President of Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS), Luís Goes Pinheiro, at the SPMS premises in Lisbon.

The meeting provided an opportunity to present CNECV Position Statement No. 11, dedicated to Advance Directives (AD), and to engage in dialogue on matters of common interest in this field, with a particular focus on health, science, technological innovation and ethics.

During the meeting, the importance of raising awareness about Advance Directives was also highlighted, encouraging both citizens and healthcare professionals to become more informed and engaged.

SPMS is responsible for managing the National Living Will Register (RENTEV), an information system that centralises and keeps Advance Directives up to date, commonly known as living wills. There are currently more than 46,000 active records in RENTEV.
