The National Council of Ethics for the Life Sciences (CNECV) organised the annual seminar "Digital Sovereignty for Europe - an ethical framework", bringing together in Lisbon, on 5 March 2026, the presidencies of the ethics councils of Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, Greece and Sweden. The symposium highlighted the urgency of reducing Europe’s digital dependence on major technology companies by fostering alternatives that respect human rights and are grounded in ethical principles.
