"ONE HEALTH"
The VI Mandate of the CNECV formed its first working group in December 2021, dedicated to the theme "One Health – One single Health". The working group is composed of Board Member Sandra Horta e Silva, Board Member João Ramalho-Santos and Board Member Pedro Fevereiro.
The One Health concept is based on the recognition of the need to approach health policies and practices from a perspective of interdependence and compromise between people, animals and the environment. From this perspective ethical questions emerge about the goodness of the concept and the practices of its implementation in the pursuit of better health for people and planet.
Human and animal health and the protection of ecosystems intersect in the search for a common language and practice capable of proposing strategies for global sustainability, which will be reflected in the exercise of citizenship, health and the training of future generations.
The calendar of initiatives dedicated to the topic is underway and will culminate with the CNECV's annual seminar on the declaration of action – World One Health Day – in November 2023.
A publication on the subject is also planned, with contributions from the experts invited to participate in this reflection.
