Pharmacist, 56 years old. Graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1990), PhD in Pharmacology (1996) and Specialist in Regulatory Affairs (2010).
Current functions: President of the Portuguese Pharmacists' Association, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, Member of the National Ethics Council for Life Sciences, Member of the Executive Committee of the Ethics Committee for Clinical Research, Member of the General Council of the University of Algarve, Principal Investigator of the Institute for Evidence-Based Health, Member of the Medicines Evaluation Committee (Infarmed). He is also an Expert with the European Medicines Agency.
Other positions and functions: President of the National Commission of Pharmaceutical Residency (2020 - 2022), President of the National Council for Cooperation of the Pharmacists’ Association (2016 - 2022), President of the Association of Pharmacists from Portuguese Speaking Countries (2019 - 2022), President (2015 - 2016), Vice President (2005 - 2015) and Member (2016 - 2017) of the Board of Infarmed. Chairman of the Department of Sociopharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon (2015 - 2017), Member of the Management Board of the European Medicines Agency (2012 - 2015), Member of the Health Technology Assessment Network (2012 - 2015), Member of the Pharmaceutical Committee of the European Commission (2005 - 2015) and Member of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use of the European Medicines Agency (2011 - 2012).
